Documentary Filmmaker

About

Hi! My name is Andrea Yu-Chieh Chung. I am a New York City-based documentary filmmaker. Born and raised in Taiwan by a family full of wanderers, I am endlessly curious about the world and have lived and made films across four continents.

Outside of my personal practice, I produce and edit projects for clients such as VICE World News, This Is Good, Reel Works, and Stanford Seed. My projects have been distributed by PBS, recognized by Vimeo Staff Picks, and screened at Oscar-qualifying film festivals, including AmDocs, Cinequest, and Provincetown.

Since 2022, I have been working on staff at the non-profit Art21, directing and producing documentaries about contemporary artists. I hold an MFA in Documentary Film and Video from Stanford University and a BA in Film & New Media from New York University Abu Dhabi.

Outside of filmmaking, I am a classically trained bassoonist and perform regularly with the Greenwich Village Orchestra as their principal bassoonist.
